Writing a Novel Pitch

Like this Blog Post? Add it to your Pinterest Board!

As we continue to talk about #CampNaNoWriMo Prep this week, one huge thing to nail down is:

What is the HEART ❤ of your story?

WHY are you writing it? What influences or experiences have inspired you to write it? Do you have a concise pitch to help keep you stay focused and effectively share your idea in a sentence or two?

Successfully reaching your Camp Goal can be HARD so writing down these things and referencing them throughout the month will help keep you excited and motivated!

Let’s SHARE your “why”, your influences, and your “pitch” in the comment below.

For me, I’m writing my story because I’m in love with the world, the characters, how the story has evolved over the years, and the messages I want to compel through it. It takes place in the world of fairies which is inspired by stories like Peter Pan and the movie “Hook”.

Here is my pitch:

“As an impending class war threatens to tear Faylan apart, five fairy younglings are forced to represent their clans in a competition for ultimate rule that will determine the fate of their world: a princess, a mute, a merman, a blind, and a pirate.”

NEED HELP CREATING YOUR PITCH?

My friend @writinglaraferrari on IG recently shared how you can create your pitch with ease using her magic formula!! Just go to her IG account and read her post that has a black letter board which starts with the words “Dark Arts 101”. You can also check out her many writing resources on her website: https://www.writinglaraferrari.com/

Ok, now let’s hear those pitches! And don’t forget to like/reply to other ones you really connect with as well! oh! And if you’re still in need of a #CampNano Cabin, check out my IGTV video to see how to join mine!
